Command Options Forms

Options Forms are available for many ZW3D commands. They provide a non-linear method of entering the required and optional inputs. Options Forms are displayed in the ZW3D Data Manager if it is enabled.

You can use the ZW3D Configuration Form to have the forms displayed automatically. The forms complement the command prompt sequence.

When the forms are not displayed, this is referred to as "stream lined mode" verses "play mode" when they are displayed. The difference is an extra middle-click at the end of the prompt sequence in "play mode." This ensures that the command is not executed automatically allowing you time to adjust the form if desired. In "stream lined mode" optional inputs are assigned default values and only the required inputs are prompted.

Scroll bars are provided when option forms are too long to display fully.

Things to Consider

Here are some things to consider when using the forms.

  • You can enter inputs in any order and at any time during the command regardless of the command prompt. The dynamic echo will adjust accordingly.
  • Default values are supplied for optional inputs.
  • The forms are always displayed when a feature is edited during history replays.
  • The active field is highlighted during the prompt sequence. You can use the Text Input Area or the form to enter values.
  • Pressing the (Tab) key will activate the next input field.

Required Inputs

This section will list all of the "required" inputs for the command. You will be prompted for each input but you can enter them in any order using the form. Be sure to pay attention to the command prompt and the message area while executing each command.

Optional Inputs

This section will list all of the "optional" inputs for the command. Shown below are some of the options that are common to many of the options forms.

Pick this icon to activate the numeric field to the left. You may then enter a numeric value or right-click the mouse in the graphics window to select alternate input options such as dimension values or expressions. When data has not yet been entered, Required Input fields have Red icons and Optional Input fields have Yellow icons. As data is entered, the icons turn Green. Clicking in a numeric input field changes the prompt to correspond to the new field.

NOTE: This icon must be selected to activate the right mouse button pop-up menu for the numeric field.

Other Options

The options below are functional and navigational tools that are common to all options forms.

  •  Show or hide the Optional Inputs portion of this form.

  •  Load help for this command.

  • OK - Accept all inputs and execute this command.

  • Cancel - Cancel this command and close this form.
