Invoked byMultiple Commands

Use the File Browser to locate, preview and select a file to open or save depending on the current function. The Open/Save button will change accordingly. The title bar of this form will adapt to the command that invokes it. The File Browser supports multiple filters, file extensions listed in the Files of type, field, and other standard Windows file features located on the left side of the browser.

The ZW3D File Browser lists the ZW3D Root Objects within the select ZW3D file and includes a Root Object search tool.   Refer to the features list below.

How to Locate/Open a ZW3D file:

  1. Select the file folder that contains your ZW3D files.

  2. Check the Preview box to see what the ZW3D file contains.

  3. Check the Local Copy box if you want to create/open a local copy of a selected Root Object.

  4. Move the mouse cursor over any ZW3D file and its preview will be displayed and Root Object listed.

  5. To search for a specific Root Object, enter its name in the Root Object field and select the Search button.  If located, the ZW3D file will be selected and previewed.

  6. Otherwise, select a ZW3D file.

  7. Pick Open to load the file and Root Object into ZW3D.
  • File name, Type, Description
These are determined when you create a New File or Root Object.

  • Root object Search
You can search the current folder for ZW3D root objects.  First select the folder and then enter the search keywords in the field provided.  The Search button will then become active.  Select it to locate all ZW3D files that contain root objects with the specified search string.

  • Preview
Check this box to show a preview of the selected file.  A preview is automatically created when the Save File, Save File As, Save All Files and Save and Close File commands are used while in a Part, Sketch or Sheet object.

  • Local Copy
Check this box to pull a complete copy of the selected file into your local active session directory.  This option would generally be used when a file resides on another computer in a slow network.   Since ZW3D does random access on open files, performance will generally be better with a local copy.   Session/Backup backs up edits to the local session copy.  File/Save saves changes back to the original file.

  • Root Object List
This window will list all of the Root Objects within the selected ZW3D file.  Double-click a Root Object from the list to open it in ZW3D.

ZW3D also supports the WINDOWS syle Drag & Drop
